A clause in the will of Ottilie's grandfather meant the 'Faber' name should be kept in the company for all time. Upon Ottilie's marriage to Alexander zu Castell-Rüdenhausen, the new noble family of “von Faber-Castell” was created.
The “Limited Edition Heritage Ottilie" pen showcases Ottilie's favourite colour, which is also featured in the violet, delicate Art Nouveau fabric in their furniture upholstery. This interplay of colour and pattern is recreated on the highly embellished dark violet barrel, which is finely engraved with Art Nouveau-inspired patterns and painted in violet before several layers of lacquer are applied and polished. This process requires highly skilled craftsmen to retain the angular shape of the barrel and results in a subtle brilliance and depth which is complemented to great effect by the solid 92.5% Sterling silver accents.
The cap end is embellished with an engraved '"AOFC" monogram in reference to the couple who inspired this pair of very special pens.
With reference to the year of Ottilie and Alexander von Faber-Castell’s wedding, the fountain pens are limited to 1,898 pens each.
